This new collaborative site provides a single point of access to a range of materials related information from educational programs to campus-wide research activities. A key feature of this site is a database of all materials-related shared equipment at MIT, including all MRSEC user equipment. This database is the largest such compilation on campus and will eventually include hundreds of items, each with associated technique explanations, contact information, links to manufacturer specifications, and notes on best practices. The website includes a section on Industry with information on the offices at MIT that help companies establish relationships with the Institute, as well as descriptions of existing programs that partner MIT materials researchers with industry. There is also a list of successful "spin-off" and "start-up" companies that have used fundamental developments in the MIT materials research to help launch their businesses.
