NSF MRSEC Logo Usage Guidelines
The NSF MRSEC logo is a lockup: the U.S. National Science Foundation logo and the MRSEC program mark, set together in a fixed arrangement. When using the NSF MRSEC logo, always use the two marks together, exactly as supplied.
Who Can Use the Logo?
NSF award recipients can use the logo for the sole purpose of acknowledging that support, consistent with the NSF Proposal and Award Policies and Procedures Guide (PAPPG), Chapter XI.E.4, and the NSF Brand Standards Manual.
Do I Need Permission?
Logos of the federal government are not in the public domain. Apart from the use above, the logo can only be used with written approval from NSF. Using the logo to link to an NSF website, or to acknowledge NSF assistance or affiliation, needs NSF approval by request to [email protected]. If you are not sure whether your use is covered, ask NSF Brand Management first.
Who Cannot Use the Logo?
The logo cannot be used in a manner that falsely implies employment by or affiliation with NSF. It cannot be used to promote or imply endorsement of a product, service or enterprise.
How Should I Use It?
Do not stretch, recolor, rotate or redraw the logo. Do not take the lockup apart or rearrange it, and do not alter the type. This does not restrict the NSF logo on its own, which award recipients may use to acknowledge NSF support. Keep clear space around the logo of at least 1/8 of its own width or height, free of text and other graphics. Do not reproduce it smaller than 5/8 inch, in print or on screen. Choose the version that suits your background, and keep enough contrast for the logo to stay legible. These rules come from the NSF Brand Standards Manual.
