Collaboration between faculty, shared facilities, and industry to fabricate instrumentation for high-throughput cryogenic sample preparation
• With partner Leica Microsystems, Joester (Seed) and Dravid (IRG 2) have developed a tool for cryo triple ion gun milling (cryoTIGM), a high-throughput approach to cryogenic sample preparation
• The cryoTIGM tool is the center piece of NU CryoCluster, a comprehensive cryogenic sample preparation facility embedded in the open access NUANCE core facility that offers a broad range of cryo-imaging instrumentation to researchers in the Chicago area

Northwestern Materials Research Science and Engineering Center
