In partnership with Google, the Northwestern MRSEC participated in the inaugural Chicago Geek Street on July 22, 2015 at the Daley Plaza in downtown Chicago by hosting a “Materials of the Future” booth, where 20 Northwestern undergraduates, graduate students, and postdocs provided hands-on demonstrations of exfoliating graphene from graphite and of graphene’s ability to conduct electricity. Over 1,500 attendees of all ages attended the event. Other event partners include the Chicago Architecture Foundation, Chicago Public Library, Chicago City Colleges, Museum of Science and Industry, and the Field Museum.
