The Northwestern University chapter for the Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE) welcomes people from the fields of engineering, materials science, chemistry, and others. We promote the science of light at Northwestern, as well as foster social and professional interaction of our student members and faculty. SPIE frequently hosts seminar speakers discussing the intersection of photonics and optics in a variety of fields. We additionally emphasize the accessibility of optics education through local and state-wide partnerships.
