PCCM hosts an Industrial and Government Lab Seminar Series that provides an opportunity for students and postdocs to meet with industry and government lab leaders. Designed by PCCM Industrial Outreach Director, Professor Nan Yao, the seminars expose students and research scholars to industrial and government lab scientists, who talk about their fields and the intersection of science, industry, and government research.

PCCM hosts an Industrial and Government Lab Seminar Series that provides an opportunity for students and postdocs to meet with industry and government lab leaders who discuss their fields and the intersection of science, industry, and government research. Designed by PCCM Industrial Outreach Director, Professor Nan Yao, the seminars began with the 2016-2017 academic year and since then have enrolled over 896 attendees in the series history (117 attendees in 2023-2024). The program's goals include:

  • Establish and advance communications networks among PCCM faculty, students, external research partners and visiting collaborators.

  • Reciprocal hosting of members of PCCM with industry and other sector collaborators.

  • Promote high value collaborations between industry & government labs and the broad materials expertise of PCCM faculty.

  • Capitalize outreach projects with industry and other sectors to instill interaction and training of PCCM students interested in pursuing careers in the business sector.

  • Create valuable intellectual property assets and effective technology transfer emanating from outreach and collaboration activities.

  • Expand utilization, membership, and education programs to external users of the Imaging Analysis Center (IAC) shared access facility.

The PCCM industrial outreach program targets companies that overlap with research underway in the IRGs and seeds. Areas of particular interest include magnetic and semiconductor materials, molecular interfaces, self-assembled nanostructure and quantum materials and structures. In coordination with the Princeton Materials Institute  (PMI), we are able to expand our industrial collaborations. PCCM makes use of the PMI industrial affiliates program to offer a multi-tiered, flexible membership agreement with categories of general member, partner, affiliate and non-profit/government.
