UD and Princeton Partner on Soft Matter for All Workshop

Friday, October 23, 2020 - 08:45 to 17:00

UD CHARM joins Princeton University’s Center for Complex Materials to host a one-day symposium to promote early-career researchers in the field of Soft Matter. Participation will bring together faculty, postdoctoral researchers, graduate students and senior undergrads from around the United States, with a focus on those from under-represented groups, to celebrate diversity and creativity in this emerging field.

This virtual event will be on Friday, October 23, 2020 and will feature presentations from those selected, keynote lectures by Paula Hammond (MIT) and Joseph DeSimone (Carbon Inc/Stanford), professional development activities, and an introduction to the field for undergraduates.

We encourage nominations or self-nominations of senior graduate students and postdocs who study Soft and Biological Matter, from any institution including Princeton and the University of Delaware. Those selected will receive an honorarium. To be considered, please submit the following as a single PDF to kzara@princeton.edu by September 30:

  • your CV summarizing research accomplishments;
  • a 1-page description of your commitment to diversity and inclusion in STEM, and how your experiences in research have been shaped by your identity(ies); and,
  • one recommendation letter sent separately by an advisor or mentor.
