Faculty-Student Team Research Fellowships are awarded to undergraduates and an accompanying faculty member from the same institution. The Team program is designed to provide unique research experiences for faculty and students from four-year, tribal, and community colleges, as well as junior faculty at research universities thereby enhancing their undergraduate-based research efforts and gaining fresh exposure to specific areas of materials research. Each team performs research in a UMN MRSEC research group from Electrostatic Control of Materials, Sustainable Nanocrystal Materials, Hierarchical Multifunctional Macromolecular Materials IRGs, or one of the various MRSEC Seed groups.
As part of the program, faculty members of these teams also extend their mentorship to the undergraduates in other teams, Native American fellows, and the REU participants through participation in weekly meetings, informal group sessions, and other aspects of the Summer Program.
