The Penn State MRSEC K-12 programs are designed to connect graduate student researchers with youth, parents, teachers, and the public to increase interest in science, sharpen problem-solving skills and build self-esteem. Most activities and events are geared towards middle and high school students, with intentional efforts to engage diverse participation and ensure equitable access to under-represented audiences. Educational content is designed to be interactive and engaging. Hands-on experiences are created to inform, enrich and promote interest in material science. Programs hosted and supported by the Center for Nanoscale Science include summer camps, teacher workshops, public events, tours, activities at science museums, and online resources.
