IRG I: Low Dimensional Interfaces @ University of Maryland
Research Fields: | Nano Focused | Semiconductors / Photonics / Organic Electronics |
IRG-1 seeks to establish predictive structure-property relationships for low-dimensional interfaces of promising materials candidates for optoelectronic and nanoelectronic applications. Investigations on layered structures (metal chalcogenides and graphenes), organic molecular films (anthracene-, pentacenene-, and phthalocyanine-based), and confined structures (islands and dots) permit direct determination of interface structural dynamics (wandering and decay) and its correlation with electronic properties (interface states, interface dipoles, band bending). Material interfaces are further incorporated into device platforms for quantititative investigations of electron transport and exciton recombination phenomena. This research effort is establishing a quantitative framework for the impact of thermal structural fluctuation on device performance in the small-size limit.
