Senior Materials Researcher (Material ConneXion via Recruitment Agency)
Our client, Material ConneXion, has an immediate opening for a Senior Materials Researcher to work as part of their Advanced Materials Solutions Team(tm) - a specialized consulting and research team, under the Director of Materials Research.
This position involves research of new and innovative materials as part of client directed projects into material solutions. The research will range from aerospace alloys to upholstery textiles, from sustainable interior surfaces to new thermoplastics for consumer products. The successful candidate is expected to conduct systematic sourcing research of a broad range of materials topics, talking on a technical level with research labs, materials manufacturers, academic researchers and designers. Delivery of results will include workshops and presentations to clients, where a high level of competence in public speaking and technical explanation are a must. Familiarity with the materials requirements of architects and designers is essential with a background in architectural materials sourcing, or a related materials sourcing field is required.
Requirements:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in architecture, a design discipline or a materials-based design field
- Both Masters degrees and/or PhD qualifications will are a benefit, though not essential
- Experience in sourcing of materials or research of new materials
- Competence in delivering technical and understandable information in a presentation format to a wide audience
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
