Manufacturing Engineer - Melbourne/Palm Bay, FL

Description:

Materials Engineer with a background in polymer science responsible for the research, evaluation, selection, testing and analysis of non-metallic and composite materials used in Aerospace and Defense programs. Responsibilities include interfacing with internal customers to determine material design constraints, testing material performance, and performing failure analysis. Work is hands-on in a lab environment involving manufacturing process development of structural/non-structural bonding, coating, potting and molding applications. Testing includes destructive and non-destructive evaluation of mechanical strength and chemical, thermal, and electrical properties.

Qualifications:

BS degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering required. MS degree preferred.
Position requires a thorough knowledge of the relationship between structure and properties of polymers and/or composite materials. Must be skilled in materials testing and failure analysis techniques and be familiar with environmental screening.
Experience working in a manufacturing environment with materials used in Defense and Aerospace applications preferred.
Requires competency in MS Office Suite and proficiency in technical writing.
Must be able to work in a team environment with good communication skills.
