LumArray Inc.
Lumarray is a lithography company with a patented technology developed at MIT, Zone-Plate-Array Lithography (ZPAL), that integrates recent advances in microfabrication, micromechanics and fast computing that would allow for the possibility to transfer a design drawn on a computer screen directly onto a substrate. Much of the fundamental research on this technology was supported through IRG-I of the MRSEC.
OmniGuide Inc.
OmniGuide Inc. was founded by MIT Professors Fink, Joannopoulos, and Thomas. The key to OmniGuide’s technology is a revolutionary photonic bandgap fiber that was originally invented and developed at MIT. The company holds an exclusive license from MIT and has added an extensive portfolio of related US and international patents. The technology was first published in Nature in 2002, based on research supported by the MRSEC.
Luminus Devices Inc.
Luminus Devices, co-founded by students who worked on MIT MRSEC IRG-I research, has patented a photonic lattice technology called PhlatLight™, which is the world’s first single-chip solid-state lighting source powerful enough to be used in high definition TVs.
