CCMR’s POP Symposium 2008
“Polymer materials for a sustainable future”
This 2008 program reflects an increasing interest for green materials and combines the two symposia held in 2007 by the CCMR: POP and Green Materials.
Polymer Outreach — Green Materials Program
This year’s symposium “Polymer materials for a sustainable future” hosted by Professors Margaret Frey, Fiber Science and Apparel Design, and Uli Wiesner, Materials Science and Engineering, will include presentations covering the latest advances in polymer research at Cornell, industry presentations and the ever-popular poster session highlighting our entire research portfolio and graduate students and postdocs.
Learn about cutting-edge research at Cornell and network with colleagues in academia and industry at our beautiful campus in Ithaca, New York. We look forward to you joining us.

The Fuel Cell Symposium at Cornell
In order to overcome the fundamental challenges facing fuel cell developers, the Cornell Fuel Cell Institute (CFCI) is engaged in a broad-based materials discovery and development program that occurs in collaboration with our industrial partners.
The Fuel Cell Symposium showcases the research and development projects underway at Cornell and in the labs of our industrial and academic partners. Furthermore, it brings together researchers from across the fuel cell technology spectrum to better plan for and meet the ever-evolving requirements of a commercially viable fuel cells.

Penn State MRSEC Industrial Affiliates
Through the Penn State MRSEC industrial affiliates program, students are jointly supported by industrial and Center funds on projects of mutual interest. University-industry intellectual property agreements are executed in advance of these jointly funded projects. Industrial scientists who participate in the program are invited to join the Center’s external advisory board.

Cornell’s Facilities 101
Cornell’s Facilities 101 on April 8, 2008 attracted 16 participants from 11 organizations.
Each spring, the Cornell Center for Materials Research (CCMR) invites participants from regional businesses to a 1-day “Facilities 101” workshop comprising classroom presentations, lab tours, and demonstrations. Attendees learn how the experienced staff and extensive instrumentation of the CCMR Shared Experimental Facilities can help solve problems and support in-house R&D efforts. This event is one element of an Industrial Partnerships program that has helped to expand external use of CCMR facilities over the past 3 years.
