Structural and Morphological Control of Multifunctional Oxide Nanostructures at Multi-dimensions :: Northwestern University

Oxide ceramics are ubiquitous in modern society- ranging from capacitors in electronic gadgets to high-tech displays. In numerous future technologies, it is necessary to “pattern” ceramic oxides in various forms, e.g., dots and lines, at the nanometer scale.
NU-MRSEC researchers Zixiao Pan, Suresh K. Donthu and Vinayak P. Dravid have demonstrated successful fabrication of single crystalline nanopatterns of multifunctional oxides using a unique technique called: “soft” electron beam lithography.
This approach has profound implications for harnessing the technological applications of ceramic oxides.
