Shared Facilites Overview @ University of Southern Mississippi
Used for: | General |
* Film Formation Cluster: This cluster facilitates all necessary equipment for film fabrication, film formation, and includes powder coatings lab, UV curing facilities as well as thin film deposition laboratory.
* Morphological Cluster: This cluster facilitates the access to the state-of-the-art transmission electron microscopy, environmental scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, and X-Ray analysis.
* Rheological Cluster: Rheological behavior of polymers, polymeric blends, organic coatings as well as other fluids can be examined.
* Separations Cluster: Liquid, gel phase gel permeation chromatography allows researchers to separate monomeric and polymeric species utilized for further studies. In addition, polymer particle size analysis can measure as low particle sizes as 0.8 nm.
* Spectroscopic Cluster: This cluster is equipped in state-of-the-art 500 and 200MHz NMR, both liquid and solid state. Vibrational spectroscopy components of this cluster utilize high throughput and high power IR spectrometers with all necessary surface and interfacial attachments as well as IR Imaging.
* Synthesis Cluster: All modern synthetic apparatus is available for center researchers which allow synthesis and polymerization of water soluble and dispersible polymers.
* Thermo Mechanical: A spectrum of thermal and mechanical analysis techniques including DSC, TGA, DMA, as well as instrumentation methods are available. (Not sure about this one.)
